In this guide, I will show you how to install Stremio on FireStick, Fire TV, FireStick 4K, FireStick Lite, New FireStick 4K, New FireStick 4K Max, and Android TV.
What is Stremio?
Stremio is a media streaming service that lets you watch movies, shows, and other online content. This service is supported on many devices, including computers, mobile phones, FireStick, and smart TVs.
You can get Stremio officially from the Google Play Store on Android mobiles and Android TV Boxes running on the stock Android OS. It is also available in the Apple Store.
However, you must manually install (sideload) the app onto FireStick and Android TV Boxes with Android TV OS (such as Mi Box, Google TV, and Nvidia Shield). Stremio is not as versatile as Kodi, but it is simpler. It lets you watch almost everything you like, from movies and TV shows to anime.
Unlike Kodi, Stremio addons are installed online and not in local storage. This is good news for low-storage devices like FireStick and most Android TV boxes.
Also, online installation means you only need to install a Stremio addon on one device. The installed addons are tied to your Stremio account and are available across all devices on which you use the app.
Attention, FireStick Users!
Governments and ISPs constantly monitor your online activity, and accessing copyrighted content on your Fire TV Stick could lead to serious trouble. Currently, your IP is visible to everyone. I strongly recommend getting the best FireStick VPN to mask your IP address and securely stream your favorites.
I personally use ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN available. Not only is it easy to install on any device, it comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus, if you're not 100% satisfied, you can always get a refund. ExpressVPN is currently also offering a whopping 3 extra months free on their annual plan!

Is Stremio Safe & Legal?
Stremio is available on Google Play Store and Apple Store. If you download it from one of the official stores, it will be safe. However, the app is not listed on the Amazon Store. Therefore, you must install it manually on FireStick from an external source.
The manual process involved downloading the APK file from the Stremio website. That could bring the safety status of the file into question. I scanned Stremio’s APK file using VirusTotal, an online antivirus tool. The antivirus raised no red flags. Here is the image of the scan result:
When it comes to legality, Stremio sends some mixed signals. Being available on official app stores places some confidence in its legitimacy. However, the same app raises legal concerns because it allows you to install third-party addons. These addons let you stream videos from unverified sources.
FireStickTricks.com can’t determine whether third-party addons are legal. Therefore, it’s best to watch only the copyright-free content in the public domain.
Furthermore, I recommend using a VPN to maintain your privacy every time you stream on Stremio. A quality VPN, such as ExpressVPN, will hide your streaming activities and keep you anonymous.
How to Install Stremio on FireStick
Stremio isn’t available on the Amazon App Store. Sideloading is the only way to install it on FireStick. You can sideload it from the official Stremio website.
Sideloading is the manual installation of the app using the Downloader app. The following steps will guide you through the process.

How to Use Stremio on FireStick & Android TV Box
This is the main screen of the Stremio app. Named the Board, this section features Popular Movies, Popular Series, Featured Movies, Featured Series, YouTube Channels, and Public Domain Movies tabs.
To explore content, select the Discover tab. You can start by typing a keyword on the search bar at the top. Alternatively, you can browse through the categories.
For example, you can select Movies, Series, or Channels. You can then search by popularity on the Popular tab or by genre.
When you select the All Genres category, you can filter content by common genres like Action, Adventure, Animation, Documentary, Crime, Romance, etc.
The Library section of the Stremio FireStick app is where you will find the movies and shows you have previously watched. In short, it’s where you find your watchlist.
We now come to the most crucial section of the Stremio app – Addons. It is at the bottom of the dropdown menu. It is the Addons that let you stream content.
You can’t do that without the addons. To understand Stremio Addons, I have created a completely different section below.
How to Install Addons on Stremio
Just like Kodi, you need the addons to watch your favorite content. However, unlike Kodi, the Stremio addons are installed online and not on your local storage.
This arrangement is excellent for low-storage devices like FireStick and Android TV Boxes. You may install multiple addons without worrying about space.
The other advantage of the online installation of Stremio addons is that you need to install them only on one device, and they are synced across all devices.
The distinct drawback is that Stremio can access all your streaming activities. Hence, it becomes crucial to use Stremio with a VPN.
Stremio supports two types of addons:
– Official
– Community
You’ll also find pre-installed addons in a third category: Installed. Some pre-installed addons include Cinemeta, YouTube, Watch Hub, Open Subtitles, and Public Domain Movies.
Community addons let you stream free movies and shows. These are the third-party addons created by independent developers.
We will focus on the Community addons in this guide. As I write this guide, HanimeTV, Anime Kitsu, Anime-action, and Christmas Movies are the most popular Community addons for Stremio.
Following are the steps to install the community addons:
1. Click the menu icon in the top-left corner of the Stremio main screen and select Addons from the dropdown.
2. You will notice that the Community addons are selected by default.
Note: You may also filter the addons by the type of content. Click the first menu where it says All, and you can filter by Movies, Series, Channels, or others.
3. When you see the following list of categories, scroll down to the addon you want and click Install.
4. If prompted with this warning, click Install again.
5. When the addon is installed, you will see the Uninstall button instead of Install.
That will be all! You are ready to start streaming your favorite content with Stremio on FireStick. Here is how you do it:
- Choose the content you wish to watch, say a movie or an episode.
- Click a streaming link to start watching.

Hi, have you installed the Downloader app on your device?

STREMIO can’t beat KODI at all, if you want hacking and want to challenge ISPs, KODI is the candidate … Finding any content in any language, with or without subtitles … it’s very easy on KODI … I haven’t found and that can replace it … IPTV, pirated channels, prohibited content … all thanks to KODI.
