When I first ran into TeaTV some time ago, I liked the app but did not pay it much heed as I was already using Terrarium TV on my Fire TV Stick. I was a hundred percent satisfied with Terrarium TV and hence felt little need for any other option. However, all this while, I kept hearing about Tea TV from my friends and in online forums.
While TeaTV worked smoothly on Android smartphones, it wasn’t exactly very FireStick remote friendly. That’s probably one of the biggest reasons why I did not stick to it. A few days ago, when I learned that Terrarium TV was bidding final adieu, I immediately started looking for alternatives. It didn’t take me long to remember TeaTV and I am glad I did.
I installed the latest version of TeaTV on FireStick and was delighted to discover that the app has been modified and is now completely compatible with the remote controller. TeaTV offers a professional looking interface, navigational fluidity, and incredible ease of use. The app always had a solid media library and now I am happy I can use it as a Terrarium TV alternative.
I recommend TeaTV on FireStick as one of the most suitable TTV alternatives. It is a complete media house. In this guide, we learn to install TeaTV on FireStick or Fire TV or Fire TV Cube. Keep reading!
TeaTV on FireStick: Installation Methods
Tea TV is a third-party app and not the part of the Amazon Store. It has to be sideloaded to your FireStick device. Unlike the regular Android mobiles or tablets, FireStick doesn’t let you download the APKs of the apps directly through the popular browsers. Sideloading on FireStick requires special apps. Here are the two apps we will use in this guide:
- ES File Explorer
Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
I will get on with the installation method. But, before that, you must enable FireStick to accept the third-party apps by turning on the Apps from Unknown Sources. Here is what you need to do:
1. Open the Settings from the FireStick home-screen (menu bar on the top)
2. Click Device
3. Open Developer Options
4. If Apps from Unknown Sources is disabled/off, turn it ON by clicking it
5. Click Turn On to ignore this warning message and to confirm your action.
Turning on Apps from Unknown Sources exposes your device to threats only when you try to side-load a bad APK. The APK source of Tea TV I am going to share with you is safe. I have personally installed the app from this source.
Install Tea TV on FireStick Using Downloader
Downloader is an app that facilitates sideloading on FireStick. I consider it one of the FireStick essentials and it is one of the first apps I install while setting up my device.
To download this app, go to your FireStick home-screen. From the home-screen select Search on the far left on the top. Now look up for the app and install it.
Once you have the app, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Run Downloader and click the URL field on the right side of its home-screen (the app opens with the left Home tab selected by default)
Step 2: Type in the following URL when the onscreen keyboard appears and click GO:
Note: The above URL downloads the latest version of Tea TV, that is why you will see a different URL in the image below.
Step 3: Downloader app will connect to the server URL is pointing to and begin to download the TeaTV APK on FireStick
Step 4: When the APK download is done, the Downloader app initiates the installation. What you should now see is the following prompt asking you to confirm if you wish to install TeaTV on FireStick.
You can see the Next button on the bottom right. Navigate to this button using your FireStick remote
Step 5: The Next button changes to Install button. So, now click Install
Step 6: It will take a few moments to install TeaTV on FireStick. When it’s done, the following window is displayed with the App Installed confirmation
TeaTV is installed. If you want, you can click Open on the bottom right corner and run it. But, I suggest click Done so that you can go back to the Downloader app and delete the TeaTV APK.
Why delete APK? Because APK is of no use after the installation of the app. Clear up FireStick storage by deleting unnecessary files.
Step 7: Click Delete
Step 8: Click Delete again
This is how you use the Downloader app to sideload TeaTV on FireStick.
How to Use FireStick with TeaTV ‘Safely’
Before you start streaming with TeaTV on your Fire Stick, I would like to warn you that everything you stream on TeaTV is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming copyrighted content (free movies and TV shows) might get you into legal trouble.
Thankfully, you can hide your online streaming/browsing activities with a VPN. A VPN a.k.a Virtual Private Network helps you bypass ISP throttling, Government Surveillance, and content geo-restrictions.
We do not encourage the violation of the copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.
I am using ExpressVPN on my Fire Stick, mobile, and PC. After trying several paid and free VPNs, I can say ExpressVPN is the fastest and most secure VPN. Here’s how to start using ExpressVPN on your FireStick and keep your streaming activities hidden from prying eyes.
Step 1: Subscribe to ExpressVPN HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it freely for the first 30-days and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for the full refund.
Step 2: Power ON your Fire TV / Stick and go to “Search” option on the extreme left. Now type “Expressvpn” (without quotes) in the search bar and select ExpressVPN when it shows up in the search results
Step 3: Click “Download” to install the ExpressVPN app for Fire TV / Stick.
Step 4: Open the app and enter your login credentials which you created while buying the ExpressVPN subscription. Click “Sign in”
Step 5: Click the Power icon to connect to a VPN server. That’s all. Your connection is now secure with the fastest and best VPN for FireStick.

Step 3: The following dialogue box must show up with the two fields
