What is CloudStream?
CloudStream is an online streaming service that lets you watch movies, TV shows, and anime. It is also sometimes referred to as CloudStream 3.
This service is a bit different from other streaming APKs that let you watch content immediately after installation.
CloudStream requires you to install repositories and extensions first. This makes it comparable to Kodi and Stremio.
Is CloudStream Safe & Legal to Use?
- Safety: No Red Flags
- Legality: Unverified
I tested the CloudStream APK 4.6.0 on VirusTotal to check for malware. There were no red flags (last updated on January 20, 2026).
Regarding legality, CloudStream works with third-party extensions. And there are hundreds of extensions. So, verifying the legality of extensions and their sources is practically impossible.
Furthermore, CloudStream may use the torrent network to provide streaming links, which can expose your IP address to everyone. Therefore, it is best to use a VPN to mask your IP address. I use and recommend ExpressVPN.

You can install Downloader on FireStick from the Amazon Store and on Android TV/Google TV from the Play Store.

Attention FireStick Users
Third-party streaming apps may expose your activity to your ISP and they can be blocked in some regions. 👀 A VPN adds privacy by masking your IP.
I use ExpressVPN on FireStick because it’s fast, stable, and easy to set up.

Choose a language and click Next.
Click Done.

Enter any name you like and click Next.
Enter an eligible CloudStream repository link and press Next.
I am using the repo URL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/saimuelbr/saimuelrepo/refs/heads/main/builds/repo.json
Since this URL is long, you can use its shortcode https://bit.ly/Saimuel
Click Add Repository.
Click the download icon next to the extension you want to install.
Once the extension has been installed, a Plugin Loaded notification appears at the bottom.
Go back to the CloudStream home screen and click None at the top.
Click the extension you installed.
The home screen of the CloudStream will now start showing the content.
CloudStream Review
CloudStream features a simple user interface that shouldn’t be hard to navigate. After setting up the app and installing plugins, browsing the content library is easy. However, you need to customize some aspects during the initial setup to make the layout make sense.
For instance, you need to select what goes into the Home tab. Options include None, Random providers, or your chosen provider. For instance, in my case, I chose HDO.
Notice how different the Home page looks when None is selected.
CloudStream is a media player like Kodi and Stremio. For this reason, the content you consume largely depends on your preferences. Are you looking for a particular movie, TV show, or anime? The best bet is to use the search feature. You can type your keywords or use the voice-enabled search.
Additionally, you can narrow down your search by selecting the genre you are looking for. These filters include Movie, TV Series, Anime, Asian Drama, Torrents, and even NSFW content.
CloudStream provides helpful metadata to make it easy for you to choose what to stream. This data includes the title, number of episodes, genre, story summary, year of release, and category. What I loved most about this section is the recommended titles similar to that particular title.
Managing your content on CloudStream is easy. Click the heart icon to add a title to your favorites. Additionally, you can add a title to other categories, including Watching, Plan to Watch, Completed, On Hold, and Dropped. To do so, click None and select the category you want to add the title to.
I tested a few videos, and all played. Provided you’ve added the relevant extensions and plugins, you’ll find working streams for movies, TV shows, anime, and more. It took about 60 seconds for the streams to load, after which playback continued smoothly.
I encountered minimal buffering, but it occurred with the higher-quality streams, mostly 1080p HD. For the 720p and below, the playback was seamless. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any 4K links with CloudStream.
CloudStream supports multi-language subtitles, which you can customize to suit your streaming preferences.
Overall, CloudStream is a good app for watching free VOD content, including movies, TV shows, and documentaries. It is a good alternative to Kodi and Stremio, too.
