Since the content library is regularly updated, there is always something new to watch. You may also browse content from the past years. All in all, Mercury is a solid Kodi addon and worth a try.
How to Install Mercury Addon on Kodi
Let’s make this guide a 2-part process so that it is easier to follow. Here is what we are going to do:
– Part 1: Allow the Unknown Sources in Kodi security settings (Prerequisite)
– Part 2: Install the Mercury Kodi Addon
Kodi Addons / builds offer unlimited streaming content, but could also get you into legal trouble if caught streaming free Movies / TV shows / Sports. Kodi users are strongly advised to always connect a VPN while streaming online. A good Kodi VPN hides your identity, bypasses government surveillance, geo-blocked content, and ISP throttling (which also helps in buffer-free streaming).
I use ExpressVPN which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is very easy to install on any device including Amazon FireStick. You get 3-months free and save 49% on its annual plans. Also, it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you can always ask for a refund.

Part 1: The Unknown Sources (prerequisite)
The reason why I say this part is a prerequisite because you cannot install Mercury Kodi addon until you have taken care of it. The security setting of Kodi prevents us from installing the third-party addons. This setting will be bypassed and here is how:
1: When you have opened Kodi, you must see the following home window. On this window, when you go to the upper-left, you find a gear image right underneath the Kodi log
Click this icon to open Settings
2: When you are in the Settings menu, go ahead and open System on your Kodi 18.1 – Kodi 18.9 Leia
If you happen to have Kodi 17.6, choose System Settings
3: Now we find a bunch of options on the left side menu. Here, we choose Add-ons
4: This brings up a new set of options in the right section of the same window
The Unknown Sources needs to be switched ON. If it is OFF, drag the toggle to the right
5: Before enabling Unknown Sources, Kodi will ask you for your consent. Go ahead and click Yes
Remember, Mercury addon is safe. I have used it personally
You are now all set to install the Mercury addon on Kodi.
Part 2: Install Mercury Kodi Addon
Here are the steps:
1: We go back to the home window of the Kodi application and open Settings again
2: Next, we choose the option File manager
3: This leads us to the following screen where we click Add source
Note: You could click Add Source in either section of the screen
4: Clicking Add Source brings up the following window. Go ahead and click where you see <None>
5: On this window, we are going to supply the source URL https://dejavurepo.github.io
Update: This addon may not be available at the moment. Please try other Kodi addons from our list.
Use the on-screen keypad to type this path
Check the path once after typing it to make sure it is correct
Click OK
6: Now we must name the source we added. I am going to use the name DV for this guide
You may, however, choose any other name of your liking
Since you will need to locate this name later, make it identifiable
Click OK
7: We are returning to the home window of Kodi by pressing the back button repeatedly
On Kodi 18 Leia, we will click Settings again
On Kodi 17.6, we need to click Add-ons in the left panel (not depicted in the image below)
8: Now, on Kodi 18 we choose Add-ons on the next window
On Kodi 17.6, we navigate to the top-left and choose the image that looks like an open-box (note depicted in the image below)
9: Open Install from zip file on the next screen
10: On this window, locate the source name you added earlier and click it
It is Mercury for this guide
11: Now, go ahead and click the zip file named repository.DejaVu-x.x.x.zip
I am replacing the version number of the file with x.x.x because it is likely to change when you follow these steps. Developers keep updating their addons from time to time
12: Wait for the DejaVu Repo Add-on installed message. You will see it within a minute or two in the top-right corner
13: You may now click Install from repository
14: We now click the DejaVu Repo we installed moments ago
15: From the next set of options, click Video add-ons
16: You should now see the Mercury add-on listed among other addons. Go ahead and click it.
Update: This addon may not be available at the moment. Please try other Kodi addons from our list.
17: Click Install when this window is displayed
18: An additional popup is displayed for Kodi 18 users. This popup contains the list of all the additional addons that will be installed alongside Mercury Kodi Addon
Just click OK
19: You are likely to see this YouTube prompt during the installation
YouTube is one of the additional addons that install with Mercury. There is no need to set it up unless you want to
Click NO
20: Within a minute or so, you must see the notification Mercury Add-on installed
So, this is how we install the Mercury addon on Kodi.
How to Configure Mercury Addon on Kodi
I will give you a quick rundown of the Mercury addon. However, before that, let’s configure it for a better streaming experience.
You can access Mercury addon from the Video add-ons section of Kodi. You will find this section after clicking Add-ons on the home window of Kodi. In fact, you may run the addon directly from the home window. You just need to hover over Add-ons in the left section.
Go ahead and click the Mercury addon icon to open it
On the main window, scroll all the way to the bottom and click Mercury Tool Box
This is the section from where you can authorize premium service Real Debrid or pair with Openload.
For now, we are going to click General Settings
The first thing we are going to do is disable Metadata. This will speed up navigation and browsing.
Click Customization tab on the left. Now, turn OFF the option Enable Metadata
Click OK
Open General Settings again and click Scrapers on the left followed by Open Scraper Settings
Click the General tab on the left followed by Enable All on the right
Click OK
By doing so, you will have better chances of finding more streams for the requested video content
How to Use Mercury Kodi Addon: A Quick Overview
As I told you, you could go to Add-ons > Video Add-ons to access Mercury Kodi addon
Now, this is how the main window of the addon looks like
As you can see, there are tons of options to find movies and shows. Here are some of the popular categories: New Movie Releases, Top 50 New Releases, New Releases One-Click, Debrid New Releases FHD, etc.
Besides the latest movies and shows, you can also older releases. For instance, there is a category called Top 250 Movies of All Time. The addon also has some extras like Live in Concert, The Jukebox Online Radio, etc.
Before you start streaming with Kodi Addons / Builds, I would like to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, Sports) might get you into legal trouble.
Kodi users are strongly advised to connect a VPN while streaming. A VPN for Kodi will bypass ISP throttling, Government Surveillance, and geo-restriction on popular Add-ons. I always connect ExpressVPN on all my streaming devices and I suggest you do the same.
ExpressVPN is the fastest and most secure VPN. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it freely for the first 30-days and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for the full refund.
NOTE: We do not encourage the violation of the copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.
So, before you start streaming on Kodi, here's how to get VPN protection in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Get the ExpressVPN subscription HERE.
Step 2: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN app on your device.
Step 3: Click the Power icon to connect a VPN server. That's all. Your connection is now secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.
Verdict
Mercury Kodi addon is a decent option for those who want to watch regular movies and series. However, there is more to it than just the latest stuff. You can explore top-rated movies of all time. You will also find documentaries and various extras.
The addon is rather easy to install and also easy to use. You can speed up the navigation by disabling metadata. As of now, it is pulling lots of good streams. However, it is best to pair it with Real Debrid if you want some high-quality streaming links.
