So, you’ve installed Kodi onto your Firestick or smart device and you’re ready to watch live TV. Problem is, downloading Kodi alone does not provide you with instant access to live TV, movies, and music. With Kodi simply being an open-source media player, it must be set up and customized in order to actually view content. Therefore, to truly enjoy Kodi and stream content, you must download add-ons onto it.
Add-ons are what bring Kodi to life and allow users to watch TV shows, sports, movies, and more. There are add-ons you can search for and download within the official Kodi repository and then there are third-party Kodi addons which are often free to download and install. Do note, third-party add-ons often contain pirated content, so remember to stream responsibly! With that said, this article will show you how to install the Chronos Kodi addon.
Update: Chronos addon is functional, but many streams won’t work
Use Chronos on Kodi Safely with a VPN
Before we dive into the installation process of the Chronos Kodi addon, it is highly recommended to set up a VPN if you intend to stream content on Kodi. A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to safely and privately stream content on Kodi by keeping your identity and location hidden from internet service providers (ISPs). If ISPs are aware that you’re streaming content, they have the ability to throttle your connection speed and monitor your incoming and outgoing data. Obtaining a VPN will prevent ISPs from disrupting your content and can also allow you to view content that may not be available in your area or is geo-blocked.
There are many VPN options available for you to obtain, however, I use and recommend ExpressVPN for its fastest speed and zero log policy. You can click HERE to get ExpressVPN for Kodi. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee in case you don’t like their services (which is highly unlikely).
Now that you are aware of the risks associated with Kodi and benefits of a VPN, let’s delve into the installation process for Chronos on Kodi.
How to Install Chronos Kodi Addon
Chronos is a third-party addon available for download on Kodi that lets users stream live TV programs and sports. The addon includes additional categories such as Hockey, Concerts, Movies, Radio, and more. Chronos has been around for almost a year and is available through an unofficial Kodi repository known as Skydarks Repository. To get started with the installation of Chronos on Kodi, you’ll want to first enable unknown sources on Kodi. To do so, you’ll want to:
- Click on the “Settings” shortcut at the top left of the home screen (Gear icon)
- Select System Settings on Kodi 17.6 or System on Kodi 18
- Click on Add-ons on the sidebar
- Scroll to “unknown sources” and toggle it on
- Select “Yes” when you see the warning message
Once you enable unknown sources on Kodi, you can go back to the homepage and click the “Settings” icon once more. After clicking on “Settings” (the Gear icon), you’ll want to:
#1. Open the File Manager
#2. Once you open the file manager, double-click on “Add Source” from the left side panel. This should prompt a pop-up screen to appear that reads “Add File Source.” Select “<None>” and Kodi will then ask you for a Web address. Enter the following web address: http://www.skydarks.com/skydarks/
When finished, click “OK” and you should have the ability to change the name of the source. After entering a name for your media file, click ‘OK’ to exit the pop-up window.
#3. Go back to the Kodi home screen and click on “Add-ons” from the left side menu. On the Add-ons page, locate the “Open Box” icon on the left-hand side of the screen and click on it to launch it.
#4. Next, select “Install from ZIP file.”
#5. This will prompt a new window to open named “Install from zip file,” where you will see any sources you’ve added. Here, you should see your “Sky Darks” file and will need to click on it. Once you click the file, you’ll see a single zip file in it, named “repository.skydarks-x.x.x.zip.” Click that file to install it.
#6. After installing the zip file, go to “Install from Repository.”
#7. From there, you can now select the Skydarks Repository. After selecting the repository, go to “Video Add-ons” and click on “Chronos.” At the Chronos page, simply select “Install” (at the bottom of the page) and you are ready to start watching content!
Perks of Chronos Kodi Addon
The Chronos Kodi Addon allows users to stream a variety of content without having to pay to access it. This third party add-on’s primary focus is on live TV and sports, but it offers much more content than that to its users. Currently, Chronos has 70 live TV channels, but most channels are sourced from Canada. Chronos does provide a few international channels from Austria and Germany, but do note, some of its 70 channels do not work properly. Chronos currently offers the following sports programs to its users: MLB, UFC, and NHL. Not to worry NFL fans! Chronos allows users to stream live sports such as football, basketball, and moto-sports.
With Chronos Kodi Addon, users will be able to enjoy music concerts from about 400 musical artists and may even encounter a few music documentaries. Fortunately, all music-related links function properly on the add-on. Movies, though a recent category, are also available on Chronos with 30 recently released films currently able to be streamed. Be mindful when streaming movie content (as well as TV programs) in which most third-party add-ons often use pirated sources to acquire such content. Though Chronos is a new add-on in Kodi and is in the process of acquiring more content, it has quickly become a popular add-on choice for users!
